In 2015 the MWI could distribute more than 1,5 Million Euro for supporting scientific research. The following image shows the distribution of the funds.
More than 70% of the funds have been used for scholarships with which graduations could be supported.
The Albertus Magnus Theological Scholarship Program (AMP) is an academic support for foreign postgraduate students and was founded by the German Bishops’ Conference.
The MWI cares about the scholarship holders and administrates the scholarships together with the Institute for Global Church and Mission (IWM) and the KAAD.
2014 43,0% of the financial support went to Africa and 40,0% to Asia.
The Cardinal-Foley-scholarship programme by CAMECO is a programme especially for studies of the Church communication and its Medias. The MWI administrates the financial means of these scholarships.
Of 89 scholarship holders we had 14 lay people and 60 priests. It was very pleasing, that the number of sisters increased from 9 to 15.
With the scholarships a big range of projects of very different subjects and study areas were supported. The following graphic shows the distribution of the fields of work of the students.
"I celebrated my golden jubilee of my priesterhood with a three-day pilgrimage by foot with my former parish and with a High Mass. I look back with gratitude, praying for the MWI scholarship holders and their way with their communities. In favor of a donation for thescholarship holders I dispensed with gifts in order to express my spiritual and material solidarity with still emerging church in the south."
