Dalit-Theologian, Dr. Dr. habil James Massey, died

Our longtime friend and partner, Dr. Dr. habil James Massey died. After a massive heart attack, he passed away unexpectedly on 02.03.2015.

James Massey got his academic degrees at the University of Frankfort and thus he became a bridge builder between Germany and India. He was the last survivor of the first generation of Dalit theologians and although he had already major heath problems he did not stop to travel but continued to spread the awareness about the discrimination against Dalits and other subaltern groups. He was the key speaker on many campaigns of missio, Misereor and Bread for the World. He was always there when we needed him, he could manage a huge workload and he did always create new ideas to implement justice. His book projects, for example his bible translation into Punjabi and his books about Dalit Theology are a legacy that will serve as a precious basis to many Theologians for their theological work.

We pray for him and his family, his threes daughters and sons in law and his grandchildren.

We shall remember him in best memory and express here our most sincere condolences to his Family!
