Preis für kontextuelle Theologie und Philosophie

 In
diesem Jahr war der mit 3.000 EUR dotierte Preis für Beiträge zu
dem Themenbereich „Religiöse
Identität und Migration“ ausgeschrieben.
Nach Prüfung aller eingegangen Beiträge hat die international
besetzte Jury ihre Entscheidung getroffen!
Gewinnerin
ist Frau Agnes Brazal, aus den Philippinen, mit ihrem Beitrag
"Beyond
the Religious and Social Divide. The
Emerging Mindanawon Identity": Frau
Brazal ist 1960 in Manila geboren und verheiratet. Nach Abschluss
ihres Studiums in Management Engineering und in Theologie in Manila
hat sie an der Katholischen Universität in Leuven (Belgien) in
Theologie promoviert. Ihr Thema : "Recasting Liberation Theology's
Classic Methodological Mediations: a proposal way of integrating
contextual-cultural (feminist) values and perspectives." Sie ist
nun Professorin an der Maryhill
School of Theology in
Manila.
"Mindanao,
together with the Sulu islands, is located at the southern part of
the Philippines. It is the second largest island in the country.
Before the Spanish colonizers came in the 16thcen.,
it was home to Islamized tribes, non-Muslim tribal communities
(Lumads), and Cebuano-speaking indigenous peoples of north and
eastern Mindanao. The
Cebuano speakers are now ethnically identified with the Christian
migrants who started arriving in the 1900s.
The
arrival of Christian migrants from Luzon and the Visayas has
changed dramatically the demographic profile of Mindanao. At the
latter part of the 19thcentury,
30% of the population were Muslims, 20% Lumads and 50%
Christians.By 1990, the census shows that Christians constituted
already about 75% percent of the population. The
influx of the migrants led to exploitation and marginalization of
the Muslims and the indigenous peoples leading to social unrest and
the Moro rebellion in the 1970’s and the war in 2000. The conflicts
have also led to the creation and promotion of politicized
identities. This
essay focuses on the religious self-image fostered by the new
politico-ethnic identities and how the emerging Mindanawon
consciousness and identity represents a creative attempt to
transcend the religious and social divide..."

 Die Verleihung des Preises hat
am 28.
November in
Aachen stattgefunden. Nach der Laudatio durch Dr. Estermann,
Direktor des MWI, stellte Frau Brazal ihre Analyse und theologische
Reflexion vor. Dr. Bielefeldt, Vorsitzender der Jury, nahm in
seinem Diskussionsbeitrag Bezug auf den deutschen Kontext und gab
Anlass zu einer abschliessenden lebhaften Debatte.
