Injustice

Dr. Danielle Palmyre-Florigny, born 1957 in Quatre-Bornes, Mauritius, studied sociology in Montpellier (France) from 1977 to 1979 and from 1979 to 1984 theology and philosophy in Brussels. The Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) awarded her a doctoral degree with her thesis "Culture Créole et foi chrétienne à l'Ile Maurice. Lecture anthropo-théologique" (Creole Culture and Christian Faith on Mauritius. An anthropological-theological approach). Since 1987 she is director of the Catechetical Institute of the Diocese of Port-Louis and, at the same time, advisor to the bishops of Mauritius. Furthermore, she is frequently engaged as lecturer in Creole culture and religiosity. The focus of her research is on inculturating the Gospel in the Creole context of Mauritius. In 2005 she was guest lecturer at the   Johannes-Wolfgang Goethe Universität , Frankfort/Main.
Since the beginning of 2007, she is the Director of ICIM (
l´Institut Catholique de l´île Maurice ), which is the diocesan body coordinating and organizing courses and training sessions for lay people. This year she has also been a guest professor at Louvain Catholic University in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
