Maurice Nyunt Wai     

Born on January 23rd, 1962, in Myanmar/Birma, ordained a diocesan priest in 1989 (Diocese of Pathein), he serves his diocese as a parish priest and Vicar General. Msgr. Nyunt Wai received a doctor's degree from the Academia Alfonsina in Rome. His dissertation on moral principles expressing the spiritual experience in Theravada-Buddhism and Christianity is a comparative study of religious studies, which is of eminent importance in a country where Christians make up a mere 4% and Buddhists approximately 90 % of the population. Msgr. Nyunt Wai  does not belong as a Christian only to a religious minority, but as a Karen also to an ethnic minority group. He wrote his Psalm in the original language of Myanmar/Birma. It clearly expresses the people's distress, despair and fear in view of arbitrary decisions by the military Government.
