Missionary Processes

A living Christian faith can contribute to a renewal in society. Caring attention for the questions, the needs and joys of our time can contribute to a renewal in the Church. Both changes can go hand in hand – as was the case, for example in the seventies in Brazil.

So it is a question of reciprocal renewal processes between Church and society.

It is the task of the Desk for “Missionary Processes in Europe” to trace these processes, to analyse them, to bring them into discussion, to research their conditions and requirements and to publicise their consequences.

…in Europe

Reciprocal renewal processes between Church and society have begun in France in recent years with the initiative of the French bishops “Proposer la foi dans la société actuelle”. This initiative has made the way for German-French dialogue processes. The social analyses and theological interpretations of these dialogue processes, however, point beyond Europe.

Characteristics of our Work

  • Partner-oriented:  Co-operation with partners from various churches, faculties, institutions, projects and initiatives in Germany, France and Brazil
  • Process-oriented:  Continuity of the relations and search movements

Questions

  • Social upheaval processes: Analyses, challenges, consequences

  • Becoming Church, Church as a minority

Conviction
