Not on but with Latin America

  Since its setting-up in 1989 the Latin America Desk, which is situated in the field of Research and Exchange (M10) orientates its work on the guiding principle of working not on but with Latin America.

 

The dialogue approach, which the academic activities of the Desk intended to take into account right from the beginning, arose out of this perspective. It led to the work being centred around various international dialogue programmes and research groups.

 

On the other hand the Desk has attempted to promote the dialogue with Latin America not only as an outward dialogue with other continents, but also as a dialogue directed inwardly, in the form of discussions with its own religious and cultural variety.

 

For this reason the work of the Desk is materialized in the promotion of initiatives, which should speed up the intercultural transformation of Philosophy and Theology.
